Raving Chimera

Where the hell have you been for 6 years?

The tempest in a teapot being made out of the Scooter Libby pardon is further evidence of just how compromised mainstream media has become. While a normal administration probably would raise some media furor over such a self-serving pardon in the middle of a term, this grotesque example of cronyism pales in comparison to Bush's war and constitutional crimes.

Pardoning the man who knows where your sociopath VP buried thousands of bodies is nothing more than standard Washington political incest. It's a distasteful perversion of justice, but compared to mass murder and the systematic erosion of the Bill of Rights, it just doesn't seem that glaring.

Where was the media in early 2003? They were shaking their collective fist and shouting for blood almost as if by command. Baghdad Bob wasn't the aberration he was made out to be by western media so much, as a logical extension of what "Fox News" and the New York Times were doing in America. Ideas about a cakewalk war financed by oil are now a bitterly ironic memory. No one above the rank of colonel has been held accountable for Abu Graib, and only now after 4.5 years, hundreds of thousands of deaths, 4 million refugees, a failed surge, and half a trillion dollars are the media daring to criticize the president.

When the revolution comes, and all politicians, lobbyists, CEOs and judges are lying dead in the streets, we're going to have to take a hard look at the journalists who acted as the cheerleaders for this war. If I were a mainstream journalist, I would be looking for ways to redeem myself. Reporting on presidential crimes committed in the last 6 years is a good place to start.

We already regret supporting Nancy Pelosi in 2006

Nancy Pelosi shows herself to be cowardly and worthless.

As speaker of the house of representatives, it is sad to hear that Ms. Pelosi has such a low opinion of her own leadership, and such a high opinion of the dog-shit legislation she has passed since getting elected: “The President isn’t worth it…he’s not worth impeaching. We’ve got important work to do.”

You know, to me that just sounds like the words of someone who has a lot to lose if she steps out of line. Those certainly aren't the words of someone who put their country and it's needs above her own.

And what of this important work they had to do? Anyone who tries to tell me that raising the minimum wage was important must have been caught in a time warp. $7/hr might have been big news if it had happened in 1991 when $7 still had some purchasing power, but now it's just a greeting card from Congress telling everyone that if they live in poverty now, they will probably live in poverty for the rest of their lives.

How about that bill to give "shrub and ogre" another 100 Billion dollars to fight his oil/imperialism war in Iraq and Afghanistan? Was that part of the important work to do? The American people elected you (something we already regret) to put these war criminals in check until they could be impeached; and you decided they needed another 100 Billion dollars to play with? Whose team are you on anyway? Are you the next Joe Lieberman? Why not just give them 500 Billion? Or would that have interfered with out debt ceiling? If it did, I'm sure you could help him fix that too. Remember? You're the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Somebody feed these people to the lions!!

Why is it that nothing ever applies to Christians? They can murder, take drugs, molest children, pollute, tax dodge, steel, subvert justice, and ignore suffering with greater malevolence and impunity than any other group in America. In their twisted minds, they are the final word on politics, ethics, medicine, spirituality, patriotism, terrorism, foreign policy, social justice and what God might be thinking at any given moment in time. Because they have gods ear, you can reason with them, plead, argue, question or teach them anything. They believe they have God's blessing and mandate for everything; from keeping fags, feminists and darkies down, to deciding which countries get nuclear weapons and which don't.
(If you ask them: Israel doesn't have nuclear weapons but if they did, they would certainly deserve them. And Iran has nuclear weapons, but they don't deserve them)

They have no respect for the long held tradition of separation of church and state in America, and they are committed to brutal authoritarian enforcement of their warped social agenda. The law means nothing to them because they are only bound to god's law, even if god’s law has to change at times to fit their cause du jour.

They have an 80% majority in America, but they incessantly complain they are being treated like a minority whose rights are constantly being trampled. They never miss an opportunity to bully or coerce, or threaten or black mail. They accept no responsibility for their mistakes or disastrous programs or policies. The last thing a group like this needs is to have money thrown at them, and that is exactly what the Bush administration is doing.

Traditional science based social programs have been de-funded in favour of faith based initiatives. People now get prayer instead of drug treatment and lectures about abstinence instead of encouragement to use condoms. Fortunately there is a change coming, but it could take 2-10 years. The sicker part of me wants to see another religious douche bag in the white house for another two terms, because I know the backlash from it will set religious extremism back 100 years. There would be a backlash even if Dennis Kucinich won the Whitehouse in 2008.

The excesses of the Bush admin will take several years to document and report out, and eventually they would be corrected. But for the mean time, if you are in need of social services; God help you.

Lady Liberty as a Dominatrix with a whip

Theocracies are working so well in Saudi Arabia, Iran, Syria, Israel and Pakistan that the US has decided: Yep, us too!

Well, we didn't decide it; the Decider did when he put two religious sociopaths on the Supreme Court. Roberts and Alito are a pair to draw to, and with the antisocial and depraved prodding of Scalia and Thomas, no issue is too excessive, no police are too violent, no child too innocent to harm, no tradition too sacred to shit on, no corporation is too abusive to censure, and no government action beyond the pale. It's all legal now.

Far from respecting precedents like they promised in their respective confirmation hearings, Alito and Thomas have been eager to show their Neo-Con overlords that their money was well spent. So far, not even a fe fi fo fum ogre like Dick Cheney could be disappointed in the erosions of civil liberties and the unconditional support for criminal activities by corporations and government.

Perhaps though, this cloud of stench and corruption might help us with our illegal immigration problem. The statue of liberty is probably starting to look a little haggard and angry and in no mood to be hospitable. On the other hand, with what NAFTA and the drug war have done to the economies and environments of Central and South America, lady liberty could be dressed as a dominatrix with a whip in her hand and a leather hood on her head, and America might still look pretty good.

I bought Obama's snake oil, and now I feel dirty

Barack Obama sold off another substantial piece of his soul on Thursday, by cowardly and cravenly opposing the impeachment of the Holocaust twins Bush and Cheney. I hope he got a few pieces of silver for it because the soul doesn't seem to spontaneously regenerate itself, and in most cases, once a part of your sense of decency has been compromised, it's a short but catastrophic plunge to your own crapulence.

I admit to having been taken in when Barack gave his now famous speech at the 2004 Democratic National Convention. Those of us with the foresight to hate Bush during his first term in office were pretty jaded at that point. We had already seen millions of decent jobs moved out of the country almost overnight, Real income was lower than it had been since the depression, we were losing 2 Colonial wars at the same time, the Constitution was beaten and bloodied by the Nuremberg laws (More commonly known as the PATRIOT Act) and to make matters worse, the press was reading Whitehouse briefings as though they were canonized scripture.

So I don't feel very badly about being taken in. That speech offered hope to the oppressed, truth to the deceived and strongly bolstered the notion that it wasn't America that had become evil, it was just our government. But like all sociopaths, He knew what we needed to hear, and he fed it to us like broth to a starving man. For a short time I loved Barack Obama and I wanted to believe in him so much that I forgot he was a politician; and that means he is also the Devil. Being rich, powerful, American, old, male and Christian pretty much means that your ability to empathize, or see things from another person's perspective is damaged beyond repair. Too bad they don't put opium in it any more.
