Raving Chimera

 A Bankrupt Culture Goes Bankrupt

700 Billion dollars eh? Can’t do it for a penny less than 700 Billion? Do you know how many working people with predatory mortgages you could have bailed out with that money? All of them!

We are spending 2 Billion every 3 days half way around the world to export our bullshit lifestyle by force, and we can’t even afford it here at home.

In some ways I’m really looking forward to this debate tonight. Not that I’ll watch it because I’m more of a transcript guy. In essence, both candidates will be making the argument that their administration will steel less money from the poor than their opponents.

I don’t think Joe Biden will really wants to talk about how he was for the war before he was against it, or however it is in his mind. I’m also pretty sure that fluffy-bunny doesn’t really want to talk about Alaskan earmarks in the past 5 years. Both are barn burning issues, which makes it sad we won’t get to hear about them

The largest economy in the world needs someone to mis-manage it because god knows you don’t want that money going to the poor. So America puts up with 2 year election cycle every 4 years. Just to make an irrational comparison, Britain does it in 5 weeks.

I would love to tell people to vote third party candidates. Cynthia McKinney and Bob Barr are both good people, who for god know why, are throwing themselves in front of the presidential bus.

The sad truth is that America will have to decide in the next 10 years whether we are still a republic or a fascist empire, and it is the Supreme Court that will make these decisions. I hate to be a relativist but Obama will make slightly, (forgive me for “relatively”) better choices for the Supreme Court. Don’t forget your popcorn.

Socialize Risk but the Profits stay Private

President Bush has never seen a situation that wasn’t a good opportunity to move money out of the hands of the poor and into the hands of the rich. It started with upper class tax cuts that he has wanted to make permanent his entire administration. He then moved to the Iraq war, which was a less than subtle way of hanging poor people upside down and shaking them by the ankles.

He then moved on to Fanny, Freddy and Indy Mac. Nationalizing these three would have made Hugo Chavez proud except that Bush only socialized the risk. Any profits those company’s will make in the future will still go straight into private hands. It’s really very cozy. The Mac’s have no risk at all; they can only ever make money. Pay attention poor people!!

Now that 8 years of gross incompetence has caught up with Bush and the economy is circling the bowl, he wants to bail out those who have acted most recklessly. And don’t be mistaken, a bail out is taking money from poor people and lending it to rich people with little to no interest. $700,000,000,000 to be exact. The beautiful part is that Bush doesn’t want any strings attached to the bail out. He doesn’t want any poor people benefiting from it.

So when Democrats suggest that maybe some of that 700 Billion should help homeowners in bad loans formerly called usury, Bush says “that’s bad.” When they suggest that maybe we should cap the amount of money CEOs can make with bail out money, bush says “that’s bad” When Democrats suggest that maybe congress should monitor than loan of seven tenths of a trillion dollars, bush says “that’s bad.” Essentially any time the rich get richer is good. Any time the poor get less poor, that’s bad. Grab your ankles poor people, you won’t be getting less poor any time soon.

 God Bless France!!

I know that it has become fashionable to hate France and everything she does. For the unpardonable sin of not supporting the war in Iraq (in retrospect brilliant foresight) we are supposed to disdain everything French including culture food and politics. Still I think about the camaraderie we share with that country; when we became an official democracy, when we fought side by side against the Nazis and when they gave us the statue of liberty.

Now France has gone and done two things this week we are officially supposed to despise and condemn, but I just can’t help but thinking they are on the right track again.

French President Sarkozy has gone the extra mile to broker some sort of peace between Israel and Syria while the US is still myered in the terrorism name calling game. The US (specifically our president) can’t see far enough into the future to understand that Syria might be very helpful to us in the fight against terrorism. Maybe we should stop calling them terrorists and open negotiations with them? They might even help us reach out to Iran. And yes Iran is the second place French diplomacy shined this week.

Israel doesn’t know for sure what Iran (or their crazy ass president) is up to, and they have a damned ichy trigger finger and raging paranoia when it comes to the idea of Iran becoming a nuclear power. Never mind that Israel is a giant hypochrite when it comes to nuclear power. My point is that France could have easily jumped on the bandwagon and shook their long french finger at Iran along with the US and called them a state sponsor of terrorism.

Instead they asked Syria to intervene on the West’s behalf. Then they had the "DeGaul" to tell Iran in the friendliest way possible that Israel is about to attack them and maybe they should step back from the brink of war with the Jewish state.

France will get nothing but shit from my country for their efforts but I applaud them. Here’s hoping they will keep doing the right thing, in hope the US will notice and maybe even play along.
God Bless France!!

 Sara Palin and Tall

I hate John McCain's policies with all my heart, but I can't see for the life of me, how the daughter of his running mate being knocked up, has anything to do with catastrophically bad position on the important issues. First of all, if parents could control their children's behavior, there would be no point in having children. The evolutionary imperative wouldn't even exist.

Secondly, if the conduct of adult children was any indicator of political competence, no one in politics would have their current job. Lets keep it simple and remember John McCain's very real bad ideas:

1) Keeping US troops in Iraq forever.
2) Increasing military aid to Afghanistan
3) Increasing funding for the failed war on drugs.
4) Increasing corporate welfare.
5) Decreasing human welfare
6) Increasing funding for the "war on terror"
7) No universal health care
8) Privatizing social security
9) Supports a war first foreign policy

I could go on forever but that might bore my reader
Peace to all, even the terrorists!!

 The Lesser of two Evils

Yesterday I was challenged by a churchy Republican to write about the issues important to this years campaign. It seems he felt that my “raving about letting a sex offender on stage” at the DNC was a little to lite and off-topic, so lets talk some issues.

9,632,028,413,967 is our current national debt. What does Mr. Churchy think the debt is going to be if John McCain gets to fight wars for the next 8 years? My guess is that we will top 15 trillion dollars but he probably know more about that than I do.

When George bush became president, there were pension plan in this country worth about 5 trillion dollars. Now the Corporate Raider’s have that money in Switzerland and the Cayman Islands and there hasn’t even been an investigation into that.
Why? Because the DOJ has become so politicized that they fire people for giving the wrong answer on the Roe v. Wade test. These used to be non-political appointments folks, now they are extremely political.

And who is responsible for this politicization? 3 human colostomy bags named Harriet Myers, Karl Rove, and Alberto Gonzalez. Oh and guess what, President quick draw won’t let them answer questions on the record, that is how bad they sullied their own jobs.

We could talk about the EPA being taken over by the people who do the actual polluting. The Justice Department being taken over by the people who should be investigated, or the supreme court being taken over by people who think Hitler was a light weight when it came to taking away people’s civil rights.

The worst thing about all of this is that the Democratic Candidate (Obama in case you live in a cave) is too afraid of good ideas, and too beholden to bad people to make a big difference. It’s enough to make thinking people vote for Cynthia McKinney (Green Party Candidate 08) or even Bob Barr. Here’s the problem with that: Cynthia and Bob don’t have a chance in hell of winning, and the one thing that we as a nation can’t live through, is two more sweaty mongoloids on the Supreme Court like Roberts and Allito. I’m not afraid of anything like I’m afraid of them, Thomas and Scalia, Roberts and Allito getting a 5th playmate would be the end of our republic as we know it. So I will grit my teeth and vote for the lesser of two evils: Barack Obama.
